When creating a new track, players can chose to use a new tool to create the track path, where they can use the Touch Screen to draw the track. However, some things from the PS3 version are renamed. These features and tools are designed for use with the Touch Screen and the Rear Touch Panel of the PlayStation Vita. Track Studio has almost all of the features of the PS3 version and a few features not existant in the PS3 version. This continued to the release date of the game itself, causing most players who otherwise would buy the game to buy Wipeout 2048 instead, some to not accept ModNation Racers: Road Trip even if it was free (showcasing that people won't accept new racing games without online multiplayer), and others even reconsidering purchasing a PlayStation Vita or outright skipping it altogether.Mod Studio and Kart Studio are practically the same as the PS3 versions, except the controls are different and uses the Touch Screen of the PlayStation Vita. This failed to stop the outrage, as people were still complaining about lack of online multiplayer features at release date. They also said that four-player Ad-hog multiplayer was included with the game. SDS announced that ModExplorer, Mod Postcards, Time Trials, and Community Share were in the game. However, only a single stability and graphics update was actually released. SDS said this is because ModNation Racers PSP online multiplayer usage went to 4% after only a month, and in response to this outcry, SDS replied that an update to the game which adds online multiplayer functions will be published. This announcement of missing online multiplayer annoyed pre-orderers of the game to the point where some wanted the game to be delayed just so it released with that feature, or else they won't buy the game. Later, San Diego Studio announced there is no online multiplayer in ModNation Racers: Road Trip (which is strange because the PS3 version and even ModNation Racers for the PlayStation Portable has the feature, and the PlayStation Vita was touted as an online device). Eventually, the poll closed and the game was revealed to be actually named ModNation Racers: Road Trip. Sony Computer Entertainment San Diego Studio (the developer of the game) asked for fans to name the game differently, as there were already two games of the same name.
